This image was actually shot many months ago while little Isla was still in her beautiful mama's belly. When I saw that the weekly challenge on i heart faces was sunflare, it made think of this moment... of the gorgeous sunset, the love that these two expecting parents share and... oh, and how I am so overdue on my blog postings!

Kelez. You sweet, precious soul. I see it in your eyes, in your gentle nature, in the quiet way you shared time with me. I am grateful to have met you, played with you and your mommy and daddy, and oh so happy that we discovered many smiles along the way. I had a bit of a hard time deciding which images to share here, so I made a few groupings that show off your tender personality...

And, then after being blessed with beautiful sunlight this evening we headed toward the beach and got this amazing sunset to frame you in all your greatness.

... now that's an understatement. This little boy was a complete joy to be around! From the moment I arrived, he was nothing but lovely- full of happiness, positive energy, curiosity and so much more. He showed me around his beautiful school grounds (Hillbrook school in Los Gatos), searching out cool locations where he wanted his picture taken, where he wanted to play, smiling the entire time. And, his parents were just as wonderful... allowing Simon to lead the way and explore the world around him. We had such fun, I think I could have stayed all afternoon.

I have had the opportunity to photograph this sweet family a couple of times over the years, as they come to Santa Cruz each summer to vacation by the beach. Now that I have been living in this vacation destination town for 10 years, I often forget just how special it is. People come from far away just to spend a little quality time in our unique beach town. It is the perfect retreat.... a laid back and relaxing, yet very fun community- a little bit of crazy, a ton of beauty, gobs of kind hearted people, and of course... the beach!
I had to squeeze the "H" family in at the last minute, so this post is a long time coming. Thank you so much, Lisa and family your patience. It was wonderful to see you all again!
